Spindle Turned Wood Candlestick — choose your height
$18.00
The cheapest way to make a table look set rather than cleared. Turned from a single block of unfinished wood, with the ring-and-bulb profile candlesticks have had for three hundred years. Three heights, sold one at a time, so you can buy two the same or three different and stagger them.
Why people buy this one
- Three at different heights is the whole trick. One candlestick reads as an afterthought. 10.5, 12.5 and 17.5 cm in a loose group is what makes a mantelpiece or a dinner table look composed — which is why we sell them singly instead of as a fixed set.
- Unfinished wood, not stained or lacquered. The grain is open and pale, so it sits with oak, rattan and linen instead of fighting them, and it takes marks over time rather than chipping.
- The base is wider than it looks. 5.5 cm across on every height, so a lit taper does not make the whole thing top-heavy on a table people lean on.
- It is wood, so a knock does not end it. Glass and ceramic candlesticks are a once-per-dinner-party purchase. This one is not.

Read this before you order
- One candlestick per order. Our photos show two or three together because that is how they look best. Add the quantity you want and pick a height for each.
- These are small. The tallest is 17.5 cm — shorter than most people picture a candlestick. Check the centimetres against the surface you have in mind before you order.
- Unfinished wood marks. With no lacquer, dripped wax and water rings stay. Use a drip protector if you want it pristine, or let it patina if you do not.
- Wood and flame. Never leave a burning candle unattended, and do not let a taper burn down to the holder.
- Grain varies board to board. Two bought together will be siblings, not twins.
