Hearth & Hollow started with a simple frustration: most of what fills a home is either disposable or unaffordable, and almost none of it feels like it was made by a person.
We look for the opposite. Pieces with a hand in them — a glaze that pooled unevenly, a weave that isn't perfectly square, a wood grain that refused to match its neighbour. The kind of object that looks better in three years than it did on the day it arrived.
What we care about
Natural materials first. Clay, stone, linen, wool, rattan, unfinished wood. Things that age instead of degrade.
Small runs. We would rather sell out of something good than warehouse something mediocre. Most pieces arrive in batches and some don't come back.
Honest pricing. No invented list price with a permanent red line through it. What you see is the price.
Rooms, not trends. We're not interested in whatever the algorithm decided is a colour this season. We stock things that will still make sense when you move.
Where things come from
We work with a small group of makers and workshops, and we're honest that we don't own the kilns. What we do own is the edit — every piece on this site was chosen by a person who would put it in their own living room.
